"Bartlett's Garage": Photographs by Rick Ashley
November 9 - November 30
The Rotary Club of Marblehead Harbor will be presenting its annual Holiday Pops Concert on Saturday, December 9th. This year's Holiday Pops Logo Artist is Marblehead's own, award-winning photographer, Rick Ashley. The logo art will be unveiled at a reception open to the public on Wednesday, November 15th, 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm, at Abbot Public Library, where guests will also celebrate "Bartlett's Garage," an exhibit of Rick's recent photographs, on view in the Library's Virginia A. Carten Gallery, from November 9th through November 30th. Light refreshments will be served.
Rick Ashley was born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland, and has been a longtime resident of Marblehead. He grew up in an automobile dealership, studied Latin for six years in high school, and graduated from Trinity College studying religion, philosophy, and music.
Rick began as a commercial photographer in the late seventies. After a studio fire in 2003, he began teaching at Boston University's CDIA and was a Program Director there for six years. Rick says, "I do not remember when I took my first photograph, but I remember getting my first "serious" camera in 1969. Now, after 35 years of commercial work, translating the ideas of others into photographs, I use photography to learn more about how I see and think photographically."
