“The Abbot Public Library: Celebrating 140 Years of Service to the Marblehead Community”, Images from the Collection of Dan Dixey

April 4 - April 29

As we look toward creating the Abbot Public Library of the future, this exhibit reflects back on two key time periods in the Library’s 140-year history. Printed from late-nineteenth-/early-twentieth-century glass negatives and from mid-twentieth-century “Kodachromes,” in the private collection of Dan Dixey, the images on view show life in Marblehead as the setting for the Library’s founding in Abbot Hall (1878) and its opening at our current location, 235 Pleasant St. (1954).
