“Ties That Bind”: Artwork by Barbara Naeser
July 3 - July 27
“Ties That Bind” is the title of Barbara’s exhibit at the Virginia Carten Gallery in the Abbot Public Library, 235 Pleasant St., Marblehead, from Monday, July 3rd through Thursday, July 27th. There will be a public artist’s reception on Wednesday, July 12th, from 5:30 pm – 7:30 pm.
This exhibition consists of a collection of Barbara’s oil paintings, including her most recent work, and a selection of her pastel paintings, mostly done in a pastel workshop in San Miguel de Allende earlier this year. She likes to paint fun and familiar subjects that are significant to her, subjects and objects from her everyday life including grandchildren. There is a little whimsy in many of her paintings. You will see children, places, still lives, winter, summer, Colorado… I hope you will enjoy the variety of pieces Barbara has worked on.
“Each new painting presents a personal challenge. I strive to capture the image, gesture or idea that first inspired me. My paintings are fresh and happy with loose brushstrokes and vibrant color. My work has an immediacy about it which gives it a contemporary flair.”
