The Marblehead Room is the place where the Library collects and keeps materials relating to Marblehead's history, its institutions and organizations, the town government, etc. Included are histories, maps, a Marblehead clipping file, many works of Marblehead authors and numerous other items. While some materials are kept locked due to their rarity and fragility, all materials are in our catalog and many are kept in unlocked cases and may be browsed. The Marblehead Room is not locked and is open all of the hours of the Library.
The Library is beginning a collection of tape recordings of some of Marblehead’s older residents who remember what the past was like in Marblehead. We would be very pleased to hear from anyone who knows of someone who could be included in this project or anyone who wants to help us with the project in any way.
