“Ride”: Live Concert Performed by Marc Berger & Band
July 10 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm
Folk Music Composer and Performer Marc Berger will be coming to the Abbot Public Library with his band (two guitarists, a bass player, and a percussionist), to present a concert of songs from his recent release, Ride, in the Library’s “Secret Garden,” off of Maverick St.
The concert will begin at 7:00 pm. In the event of unsuitable weather, the concert will take place in the adjacent lower level Meeting Room.
At this special concert, Marc, accompanied by the Ride Band, will perform songs from the album and tell stories about his experiences as an easterner in the mountain and desert West. Hear tracks, watch video, get the backstory at www.marcbergermusic.com.
Marc Berger has toured nationally, performing solo and with his band. He has performed at Austin’s South X Southwest Music Festival, the Kerrville Folk Festival, and has opened shows for Bob Dylan and other national acts. His song “The Last One” was a staple of Richie Havens concerts.
Marc has extensively explored the American West, venturing into remote regions of its deserts and mountains. On one such excursion, he discovered The Big It by A. B. Guthrie on a revolving bookrack in a Navajo reservation trading post. This impressive collection of Western short stories ignited the idea of using his travels to create a set of songs in the cultural tradition of like-minded American artists like John Ford, Guthrie, and Frederick Remington, celebrating the West’s exotic landscape and timeless appeal. The collection of songs on Ride is the result of this discovery.
